During the 1970s and 1980s, Van Roojen spent much time on large public art projects. Even though he continued to paint – in fact he always considered this his main occupation and crucial to his existence – he did not pay much attention to display his work. This not in the least due to his essentially being a very private, shy person. Furthermore, he was very successful with his public art, both in terms of recognition and economically, and he was sought after by major architects to contribute to their buildings. These projects allowed him to work outside the public eye, and he continued to expand his ouevre with exceptional concentration. In 1972 he exhibited sixty watercolour paintings in the Dordrechts Museum and in 1988 he was prominently featured in a travelling exhibition and publication on post-war geometric-abstract art (see link).

In 1993 he held two large exhibitions at the same time, initiated by Wim Crouwel and Rudi Fuchs: an overview of his work in Museum Boijmans-van Beuningen in Rotterdam and a large collection of then-recent paintings in the Municipal Art Museum, The Hague (see link).

All works appear in approximately the same size on this website, but true measurements differ quite substantially.
